I honestly can't believe this day is here! They were practically touching each other in his throat and he was having trouble eating and breathing. He would snore really bad at night and then just stop breathing! I'm not sure what happened (the nurses explained it to me, but I didn't really understand) He had this awful barking cough and was having a hard time breathing which sent him into a panic! He had to breathe in this mist to open up his airways. It took forever to calm him down. Then he started freaking out about the IV's and monitors stuck to him. Poor guy had a rough couple hours. After pain meds and a popsicle he was doing better. <br />He said, "thank you feel me better" to the nurse. Ate lots, drank lots, was fairly happy, until.....the next morning, when he came down with the stomach flu! Leave it to Jackson to catch the stomach flu the day after surgery! He couldn't keep anything down and had a 103 fever. :(<br /><br />I of course thought it was related to surgery or anesthetic and his surgeon said it definitely was not normal. I've never heard of it until this year, but it's literally around the corner from our house! Who knew!? They let us pick peaches to our hearts content (our favorite summertime activity). <br />The peach tree In our back yard sort of broke in half last year :( so we have no peaches of our own to pick. <br />The peaches were $2/pound which is standard grocery store price, but these are ripe off the tree and so delicious! I didn't think much of it. Kids get blisters all the time right? Then on Sunday morning he was really complaining about it. His pinky toe and whole foot was so swollen! Paul took him to urgent care where the doctor gave him oral antibiotics and sent him home. Later that evening he started getting red streaks up his ankle and it got more swollen and he got a fever and was screaming in pain! They had to give him an IV of antibiotics which took 2 hours. He was so brave! His arm "having a drink of soda" At least maybe I scared him away from soda for the rest of his life!! His foot was still getting worse so we went BACK to the doctor on Tuesday only this time to his pediatrician. He said we needed to lance it which is what we all thought in the first place but none of the other doctors would do! So it took four of us to hold him down while the doctor lanced and drained his foot. I watched and it was like a gross fountain of puss and blood (sorry). I hollowed out eggs and filled them with stuff and we hunted for the eggs then smashed them on each others heads. Whoever got the glitter egg smashed on them won the grand prize...a new cell phone! It may have been a chocolate one! There were two glitter eggs and jeff got both of them smashed on him! mall caught on fire a few months back so half of it is ruined. The other half was damaged by smoke, including the little play area. So it's been months since we've had an excuse to go to the mall, which is probably a good thing! Anyway, the new playground opened today and there were lots of festivities, including face painting, balloon animals, free shirts, cookie decorating, and more! This is the first year I have been. I think I have always been pregnant when this thing "rolls" around! We had so much fun! I wish I had more pictures! I had the kids wheels tightened so they could just walk with their skates. Eventually Jackson took his off and just ran laps on the rink next to me. I pushed Amelie in the stroller (I learned this trick when Abbi was a baby). She had a great time strolling along in comfort with an unobstructed view of mommy! Paul carried Abbi around the rink while skating, which was exhausting to watch. Abbi was just so excited to see all of her friends outside of church all together. She's such a social, friendly little thing always running up and hugging her friends. And everyone is this girl's friend. She is not selective yet, thank goodness. Kami came with us and had a great time getting her bearings on wheels and holding hands with Kate and doing very slow laps! Her and Abbi pretty much just held onto the stroller while we did laps. The girls had a sleepover afterward. So fun! So glad my kids have cousins nearby. It is a charity to benefit Sutter Life, which makes hospital stats for children more enjoyable. They are great! My sister Brandi and her kids came to. It was freezing cold, but great fun and great company. It started raining as we crossed the finish line! We walked four miles and ate four donuts. Well I had two donut holes. He doesn't like the rides, the food, or the carnies. He prefers the wholesome goodness, family fun and general cleanliness of Disneyland. And who can blame him? But me? I'm a sucker for these things! I love the rides brought in on a trailer, set up in 15 minutes, covered in vomit; the fried (any-kind-of-food-you-can-think-of-I-had-no-idea-you-could-fry-that?) food; and all the nice carnies with missing teeth who you can barely understand even though you know they are speaking your language! I love it all!<br /><br />So naturally when I saw this little mini carnival in our mall parking lot I knew I had to drag Paul and the kids along so I could have some fun!<br /><br />The first ride I took the kids on was the teacups. Now these aren't your ordinary Alice's cups and saucers! I was able to spin these SUPER fast and then not slow down so fast! Let's just say I may have scarred my kids for life! They were both screaming half way through the ride, things like "get me off!" "I'm all done!" "I don't like this!" and "I want to go home!" They were holding each other tight and I'm pretty sure I saw tears in their eyes. I felt so bad and they were hesitant to go near the rides after that. I was 99% expecting to have to hike up those stairs and carry her down. I was so proud of her! She wouldn't go near this at the state fair. They did not disappoint! <br /><br />Overall I think the kids had a great time (despite the terrifying teacup catastrophe). The evening ended with 2 screaming kids wanting to do more rides and games, 2 exhausted parents and 1 good baby in a stroller (not pictured...sorry Amelie). But only the chores she likes to do, such as, dishes, sweeping, mopping, and anything involving a rag and spray bottle. Chores she would rather not do include cleaning up her dress-ups, putting her shoes away, putting toys away, pretty much putting anything away! But we actually have a pretty good system going. She rinses the dishes off (while Buddy plays in the water) and I load them in the dishwasher. It was nice. It took a whole 20 minutes to see all the animals! I grew up in San Diego and worked at the Wild Animal Park as a teenager so it's kind of hard to be impressed by any zoos. But I thought for the location and space they had a pretty good selection. I think our favorite animals were the peacocks that had free range of the zoo and kept flying over our heads. It must have been peacock mating season because all the males were showing off for the girl birdies. That really scared buddy, but Abbi my little wild life photographer to be got right in there! No fear! One of the peacocks lost a feather and Abbi got to take it home! When I asked Buddy what his favorite animal at the zoo was he said, "um, scared!" that pretty much sums it up for him. That alone was worth the drive! It was a cute little western themed park complete with ponies, a covered wagon, saloon and general store! Adorable! They also have this cute little train you can ride for $2, but I lost the cash in my back pocket so we couldn't ride. She got her hearing and vision checked, among other things and has been declared a healthy 4 year old and all ready for school! I know it's still about 6 months away, but I can't believe it's coming so fast! It seems like just yesterday I held a little baby girl in my arms...oh wait...that was just yesterday, different little girl though! We took the kids to play at golden gate park, which is awesome! We go everytime we make a trip to the city. And the weather was actually favorable! The kids found a pet worm. Jeff, jack and carter would not touch it, but kami and abbi were all over that! We had to talk kami into finding it a good home in the dirt rather than the sand in which it came from. <br /><br /><center><a href='http://blogpress.w18.net/photos/11/01/15/3340.jpg'><img src='http://blogpress.w18.net/photos/11/01/15/s_3340.jpg' border='0' width='281' height='210' style='margin:5px'></a></center><br />On our way to eat we drove down Lombard street. That was a little scary in a Honda pilot!<br /><br />Then out to the boudin factory for bread bowls. It's always comical to me when we take our kids to restaurants in San Francisco. The people always seem a little less family-friendly! But we made it through dinner with relatively few melt downs, poopy diapers, and disapproving glances! I think this is the only picture we got with all the kids in it. They were looking at all the bread animals in the window. How cute. <br /><br /><a href='http://blogpress.w18.net/photos/11/01/15/3341.jpg'><img src='http://blogpress.w18.net/photos/11/01/15/s_3341.jpg' border='0' width='400' height='299' align='left' style='margin:5px'></a><br />Then we made the kids walk .6 miles up hill to Ghirardelli square. Which was apparently torture! I had to pretty much remind jack to keep walking every second! But, we got our cupcakes and chocolate and then everyone was happy! <br />Then while walking back (at least it was down hill) we ran into a magician.
